Healthy Lifestyle With Easy Healthy Recipes

Author: Navid Cook

Nowadays with our busy lifestyle, it is becoming more and more difficult to spend time on cooking in house. More people now prefer to go to a fast food restaurant, eat and leave under half an hour. Not many people pay attention to what they eat and whether or not they are taking all of their necessary daily vitamins and minerals. We don't pay attention if we have had enough fiber or calcium or even protein in our food. We may not know what kind of oil has been used to cook the food we are eating and in overall we may never ask ourselves if we are eating healthy.

Healthy eating doesn't mean that we change all of our normal eating habits and follow a restrict diet. If we just try to follow a couple of the following suggestions, we have come a long way and improved our eating habit a lot. First things first, try to cook at home more often. It may seems difficult initially but as soon as you start cooking at home, you will get used to it and enjoy it. By cooking at home, not only you will have control over the quality of the ingredients, but also you can cook healthier. Steamed organic vegetables at home, sprinkled over with a high quality olive oil, some salt and pepper is much more healthier and more delicious than deep fried vegetables in a low quality oil at a restaurant.

Try to have some easy and quick recipes for healthy meals handy. keep fresh and also some frozen ingredients at home and force yourself to use them. Keep a couple of main herbs and spices such as bay leave, rosemary, paprika, pepper and cinnamon at home and use them in your cooking experiences.

For your daily eating habit, pay more attention to the nutrition fact of each food product. Instead of junk foods, sweets and processed foods, eat vegetables, dried nuts and fruits. Avoid trans fats and limit your daily taking of saturated fats such as cream and butter. Trans fats increase the risk of coronary heart disease. Trans fats on the other hand raise the level of cholesterol in the blood and therefore increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Use vegetable oils such as canola oil for frying or high-heat cooking and also olive oil in salads and low-heat cooking.

For your daily fiber, instead of white breads, start eating whole-wheat breads and also other sources of fiber such as fruits and vegetables. Fibers not only can aid digestion but also can lower the risk of diabetes and heart disease. And last but not least, eat more white meats and less red meats. Red meats contains bad cholesterol and excessive eating of them should be avoided. Also oily fish such as salmon or cod contain some of the necessary amino acids that our body cannot produce.

By following these suggestions hopefully you would embrace a healthier lifestyle and become more aware of the importance of the healthy eating.

How to Build a Healthy Lifestyle

Author: Jim Rosenau

Diet - lets face it with out this you probably will not be as successful loosing weight as you would like. You can exercise all you want but if you go to fast food drivethrus all the time or eat the morning donuts you probably wont have much success. Lets talk about the fat first. You can do the low carb diets that actually say you should eat fatty foods and cut out the carbs and this does help you loose weight fast. The problem with these types of diets are that once you go off the diet and start eating normal again the weight starts coming back two fold, been there done that. Then there are the only carb diets which actually are pretty good for your heart. You find that your body starts missing the protein that it used to get from meat and you start getting tired. The next diet you can try is being a vegetarian which is a very good diet and you will loose weight but you must replace your protein and make sure you get enough vitamins and don’t short your self any nutrients. You know the best way to diet really is to watch your calories and fat intake. If you eat smaller portions at more times through out the day would be the best for you allowing your body to burn each and every meal you eat rather then storing it for later or turning it to fat. It is hard to keep track of all this but once you start doing it you will find it gets easier and easier. Lets face it losing weight and keeping it off is a life changing job that you have to work at and you will see great results if you add our next subject we will talk about.

Exercise - This is the hardest to keep faithful to. It is the hardest to start and the hardest to do when you just don’t want to do it. When you first start exercising you will be sore in the days following but you need to work through it and pretty soon it will not hurt anymore. First start a walking program 1 to 2 miles a day or 20 to 30 minutes a day. Do what you can handle maybe it is more than that. Then get yourself some 1 to 5 pound dumbbells and start doing regular exercise routines which we won’t go in to detail now but you can look up any routine on the internet and pick one that you think will work for you. You can loose weight with out exercising but that doesn’t mean that you are living healthy. Exercising helps your muscles be loose and tone. Sweating helps get rid of the toxins in your body that could cause cancers. Exercising also helps your heart, the most important muscle in your body, exercising helps keep your blood vessels open and clear. As you get older, if you do not exercise in some way your body starts to deteriorate faster. You can’t stop the aging but you will feel better and will be able to do the things you like. To keep up with both dieting and exercising you have to take control of the one thing that will make you quit both if you don’t master this next topic.

Your will - If you can control this you will be successful. Your will is what tells you that you don’t feel like doing this today or this candy bar won’t hurt me today. Then before you know it your week is filled with not exercising and as many candy bars and fast food as you can eat. To take control of your will you have to find ways to keep you focused like posting positive notes around your house or work. There is many different ways to keep your will focused. Once you train your mind to get rid of all the negativity that stops you from exercising and dieting the easier you find it is to change to a healthier lifestyle. Try posting pictures of you when you started your program that you choose. Then start posting pictures of yourself after you have been on your program for a month or two. The whole idea here is to keep everything positive and get rid of all the negative. When you start seeing all the results it will be easy to do all three steps to a healthy lifestyle.

Why It’s Necessary to Protect Your Income and Lifestyle

Author: Anita Hennington

Why it’s necessary to protect your income and lifestyle.

Protecting income against the effects of sickness, illness and accident is the cornerstone for sound financial planning. Yet many people struggle to appreciate the need and simply believe it'll never happen to them.

With the downturn in the economy, you may have heard how many homeowners are suffering financially. For example, the Council of Mortgage Lenders expect around 45,000 homes to be repossessed this year, compared to about 26,000 last year and just 8,000 five years ago.

It’s a concerning time, but there are simple steps that you can take to help safeguard your home during these difficult times. For example, you can help protect yourself from the financial consequences of being unable to work.

Do you need protection?

Imagine for a moment that you have to stop work because you were sick or unemployed.

· How much would you need to pay for your mortgage and the cost of living each month?

· How long could you live on your savings?

· What would happen when your savings ran out?

Being out of work is stressful enough and, if it happens, it is important to be able to concentrate on getting well or finding another job.

The good news is that help is available to protect yourself against the financial consequences of being out of work due to illness or redundancy. And it’s probably quicker, simpler and more affordable than you expect.

The protection market is constantly evolving, and at St Andrews Financial Planning we are always researching new products which could provide you with superior cover. We can also offer you products you cannot get direct from insurers as a customer.

Call now to help safeguard your financial future

It’s easy to put off getting protection. But the reality is that by doing so, you could be gambling with your home and lifestyle if something unexpected happens. The right protection can provide you with peace of mind that you can cope financially, no matter what life throws at you.

We will only recommend cover that is right for you and of course we are also happy to discuss any other financial concerns you may have.

Lifestyle Disorders and the Middle Age

Author: sankarapandian

In the name of modern life style people tend to ignore the facts which they should be taken care of. Usually they don't wake up until the side effects descends on them. The fast paced life style is creating dangerous disorders on their health and they begin to feel it only above the age of 40. The junk filled life style has even increased its pace and those who are in their 30s begin to feel it.

There is a old saying that, "we are what we eat". It even holds good today. If you are consuming high calorie foods and not doing enough exercise, it will tell on your health sooner than later. You need to be more careful when you are approaching the age of 40. Diabetes, respiratory infection, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and osteoporosis are some main problems, people in this age group confront with. The food habits and unhealthy lifestyle are the main contributors.

The most important period in life is between forty and fifty. It is in this period one ha to bear more responsibilities in their profession as well as family. They have to travel often, attend multiple meetings, manage a team and meet targets or deadlines. Their children will be in their teens and need more care towards their education. The teens need varies from materialistic to emotional. On the other side they have to cope with financial stress. To plan for the imminent arrival of the retirement period and the rising expenses put enormous stress on them.

When nearing 60 the responsibilities will reduce. But the damage done to the health in their busy 40s may be difficult to reverse. Given their busy schedules, these people have little time for any exercise. The stress and strain filled life style, long working hours and unhealthy eating habits complicate matters.

Good and healthy eating habits

As in most families both the parents are working, they find little or no time to cook in the house. They rely heavily on ready to cook food and junk food. These high calorie foods not only affect the health of the parents but also the next generations in their house. Moreover today's job or profession is highly demanding which makes them working for long hours, leaving little time to look after their house and children. This automatically push them to the easiest choice of ready-to-eat junk foods. These foods consists of high calories and has artificial coloring and preservatives. So there is no wonder why these foods are serious health hazards over a period of time. Using readymade foods deprives one of essential vitamins and minerals which are rich in our traditional foods. Vegetables and fruits find no place in their menu.

Frequent consumption of junk foods with irregular intake of meals may contribute to many health problems such as acidity. gastroenteritis, obesity, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Due to these factors people in this age group complain of fatigue. Those above 40 have no other option but to modify their dietary intake and lifestyle to optimize their health and avoid old age ailments. Take more foods like whole grains and legumes, fruits and vegetables. Lean meat is preferred most and take more protein rich foods. Avoid oily food or reduce to the minimum level. Avoiding bad habits altogether is advisable. Reduce alcohol consumption slowly and quit smoking.

Dietary supplements

Dietary supplements or nutritional supplements is a must in this world of hectic lifestyle. Remember it is not a choice, but it is a must. Because home-cooking contributes only a little to our daily food and today's fruits and vegetables are contaminated and lack proper nutritional values. So regarding nutrition, there is a huge gap between what we need and what we get. This deprives our inner organs the essential nutrition they need to function normally. As a result they get more aged than our physical age.

Take micronutrient fortified foods. Have a health drink rich in vitamins and minerals. Include more fibrous foods with zero sugar and cholesterol. Plan your daily intake so that your food is balanced with essential nutrients. This helps to get the daily quota of nutrients. A balanced diet helps to improve the immunity level and keep one healthier.

Daily exercise

The dietary supplements help to provide nourishment but are not a full substitute to a regular balanced diet. The second most important thing is doing regular exercise. Walking is the best and the easiest form of physical activity. Go for a thirty minute brisk walking, at least four to five days in a week. Regular exercise helps to burn excess calories and avoids becoming obesity. It helps to maintain good health. Take regular health check-ups for sugar level, cholesterol and blood pressure. Change your eating habits. Take more vegetables and fruits and give importance to home cooking. Do regular exercise. The simple thing is, the intake of calories should match the spent calories. Making the necessary adjustments in our routine life will keep away the life style disorders.

Who Wants to be More Healthy? Six Simple Steps to a Healthy Lifestyle

Author: Eliz Greene

Do you know how to keep yourself healthy? It can be confusing with headlines coming at you. They said Hormone Replacement Therapy is bad for your heart, now maybe it isn't. They say eat soy, but now they say not too much. Should you take an aspirin everyday? What new test is right for you? What about vitamin E or Fish Oil or the latest diet pill?

How do you know what to do to keep yourself healthy? Go back to the basics!

Pay Attention: If you don't pay attention to your health, don't worry – it will go away.

Prevent disease by seeing your doctor and controlling your risk factors such as blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar.

In addition, be brave and schedule the screening tests. A recent study by the National Cancer Institute and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found a steady decline in the number of women getting regular mammograms. Finding cancer early through screenings like mammogram and colonoscopy is essential to survival. In this case what you don't know CAN hurt you.

Be Active: A study reported in the American Journal of Epidemiology is just a recent example of something we all know: people who are active are more healthy than those who sit around.

An active lifestyle doesn't mean you have to spend your life in the gym. You simply need to move your body thirty to sixty minutes per day (more if you are trying to lose weight.)

Doing chores, walking the dog and using a pedometer are all great ways to be more active. Being active will help control your blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and weight as well as reducing your stress level. All good things for your health.

Put Good Stuff In/Keep Bad Stuff Out: Fuel your body with food which has recently had the sun shining on it. Flip over the package and read the ingredients. If the list includes items with more than three syllables, put it back. Avoid trans-fat and anything listing partially hydrogenated oils.

Water is your body's best friend. Keep you blood flowing and your digestive track working with five large glasses per day. Avoid soda and other sweet drinks, even diet ones, which trick your body into craving more sweets.

Stay away from second-hand smoke. Whether you smoke or someone around you does, you are doubling or tripling your risk of heart disease and cancer.

Breathe: Everyone needs at least five minutes to themselves every day. Stress is one of the for disease, and perhaps the most difficult to control. Take a moment each day to sit quietly, breathe deeply and let go. Clear your mind of the demands of the day and focus on the good things in your life.

Be Honest With Yourself: We all know, deep down, if we need to lose weight, if we need to eat better and if we could do better for our own health. Yet, it is easy to ignore.

Get out the tape measure. Measure around the widest part of your waist. If it is more than 35 inches (40 for men) you need to do better. Weight carried around the middle (around your internal organs) doubles your risk of heart attack. In fact, for women aged 45 -54 large waist size can double the likelihood of stroke as shown in a recent study published in the Journal of Neurology. Fat carried around the middle, combined with other risk factors like high cholesterol, smoking or inactivity is a recipe for disease.

Take your health seriously and start with one change. You'll feel better and will want to make other changes on your way to a healthy lifestyle.

Give Yourself A Break: Celebrate what you do for your health, and don't beat yourself up when you slip up occasionally. Making good choices on a regular basis builds a healthy lifestyle, not perfection.

Healthy Lifestyle

Author: Jenny Regeling

Copyright (c) 2007 Jenny Regeling

Living a natural and healthy lifestyle begins with routine-habits. These habits help create a strong immune system therefore avoiding a lot of discomfort and disease. A lack of discomfort and disease makes a happier and more contented life. A natural, chemical free lifestyle is uncomplicated; works well in harmony with your body assuring you of a strong immune system, and therefore developing a life filled with much strength , energy and relaxation. Sound good? I know which I would prefer.

In our western society we are known for depending on prescribed chemical medicinal cures rather than turning our ways to the original natural earth related cures we were supposed to use in the first place. Chemical and synthetic drugs do in many cases cure the problem but the side effects that follow or involve them can be worse than the disease itself. I know I have experienced that very thing. I am now more inclined to suggest to prevent illness or disease by a strong and armored body, built up by the right diet and necessary food supplements.

By living the natural way things are simplified, clear and self explained. It makes sense. They build up the bodily functions and in most cases don't have or have little side effects. If these side effects occur they are normally mild and easily treated by changing to another natural option that better suits the situation.

For example, my granddaughter who is 5 years old, like all children can get excited around sleep time. Instead of choosing a medicine to calm her down her mother simply puts a few dabs of lavender on her tissue to inhale while putting her down to sleep. This is very effective and very natural, not causing any side effects or chemical complications.

If you have never encountered or tried to go natural you are probably asking ...

What is a Natural Lifestyle?

To put it simply, you are not only treating an ailment but at the same time introducing natural healthy nutrition which at the same time is building your immune system to fight whatever you have wrong with you. So you are safeguarding and curing at the same time. The safeguarding naturally is also helping to prevent any more oncoming illnesses which otherwise may have occurred.

I have and will always stress that your mind, body and soul control the functions of your wellbeing. Therefore not only should you have a strong body, but also a positive mind (attitude in life) and a positive Godly soul. If your attitude is positive through a trauma in life it is going to promote a quicker and stronger healing process than not.

When I experienced Breast Cancer 10 years ago I chose to-Beat It! - With a strong, positive attitude. I could have chosen to be miserable and continually feel sorry for myself. That I assure you would only have made the task a whole lot harder and unhappier.

To compliment all the above, a daily exercise is essential-walking is great; whatever you choose to do is a great benefit. You only need a minimum of 30 minutes a day, longer is up to you. Also the habit of relaxation is very helpful to settle or deal with any anxieties, as these can prevent your system from working as it should. Stress is not a bad thing. We all have it and some more than others About the Author:

My most passionate objective for my website is to encourage people to look at firstly preventing disease by building up your immune system in many different ways, and secondly to help make the journey of disease much more pleasant. Life is worth living and if we are encouraged to live to our utmost - WHY NOT? Please enjoy the knowledge of my experience & visit http://www.cancertohealthylifestyle.com to receive a FREE Ebook read.

An Ultimate Lifestyle Secret - The Power Of Integrity

Author: Gilbert Griffiths

Wikipedia defines integrity in the following way. "Integrity is the basing of one's actions on an internally consistent framework of principles. Depth of principles and adherence of each level to the next are key determining factors. One is said to have integrity to the extent that everything he does and believes is based on the same core set of values. Behaviors within the concept of integrity include: honesty, sincerity, truthfulness, keeping one's word and agreements, punctuality, ethics, fairness and justice."

The power of integrity is realized when you discover that everything you do and say is guided by the above behaviors. When they become the yardstick by which your life is guided, you have the power, the will and the moral right to do and be anything that you want.

Unfortunately many of our business leaders, sports stars, entertainment icons and politicians have not displayed integrity in their comments and actions. As a result, many of them have lost their jobs and quite a few have lost their freedom because they have been sentenced to jail for their indiscretions.

It used to be that you could point to a successful businessman or sports star and tell your child to emulate them because they were special and admired by all. Today that is not the case as the morals and actions of many show no sign of integrity and instead loudly bugle, "I'll get mine and to heck with everyone else. As long as I get what I want, how I do it is immaterial."

Fortunately, the average person is now recognizing these charlatans for what they are and no longer want to have anything to do with them. It is very heartening to see that the average citizen has more integrity than many of the so called "high and mighty."

As the result of court actions placing numerous business moguls in jail, many companies are now creating business conduct guides which all of their employees from the newest recruit to the CEO have to follow. It is nice to know that integrity is making a come back, because its power ensures that employees, customers and suppliers will all get honest and considerate treatment from the companies who follow the behaviors listed above.

You too can discover the power of integrity when you commit to personal accountability and making great choices. Did you know that the power of integrity lies within each and every one of us? Well, it does and it is very easy to release this power. All you have to do is follow the above behaviors in everything you do and say and you will discover that the power of integrity opens a whole new lifestyle for you. The power of integrity, a power that no one can take away from you, but which you can squander by not following the above behaviors, is the power of your soul, the power that will ignite the passion of your conscience. With this as your guide, you will never again have to settle for less because your actions and words will mark you as an exceptional individual, someone to be followed and to be listened to. When you are locked into a life of integrity, you will feel powerful and self confident and you will exhibit a magnetic presence and an aura of leadership. With the power you gain from your life of integrity, you will become successful in all areas of your life.

In conclusion, living a life of integrity gives you more power than any other lifestyle. Your success will be immeasurable, your popularity unmatched and your joy will be boundless. A life devoted to integrity will be an ultimate lifestyle, and what could be better than that?

Lifestyle Choices That Can Ruin your Life and How to Avoid it

Author: Landa Marsili

With the holiday season upon us people spend even more of their time thinking about others and doing for others rather than for themselves. That is what is expected during the holidays of course but what about the rest of the year?

For most people life seems so hectic taking care of all that must be done to survive that they entirely forget about taking care of their body. The body becomes a forgotten factor until and unless a medical appointment bearing bad news brings it front and center. As long as the body continues to carry people around while they take care of everything but it, it is forgotten altogether.

The result of this lifestyle is a time in history where lack of fitness and weight issues and diseases and conditions related to it dominate the medical field. Those bodies that were forgotten are left for doctors to resolve the problems created from a lifetime of not placing the self first. The problem with that result is doctors can’t cure the conditions created by a lifetime of neglect.

A lifestyle that lacks regular exercise and controlled weight over time creates issues of diabetes, high blood pressure, some cancers including colon cancer, heart problems, asthma and arthritis. On the other hand a lifestyle that includes regular care of the body through consistent exercise and controlled weight enjoys highly reduced risks of developing these life destructive diseases and illnesses along with a lesser incidence of issues related to depression and anxiety.

While you are running around this holiday season thinking of everyone but yourself don’t forget to start caring about the self. If you have not taken care of yourself they way you should be through a regular exercise routine and reducing weight to safe level that is within normal ranges, know that it is never too late to start doing so.

Unless a real disability prevents it there is no such thing as an impossible case and everyone has the ability to not only reduce their weight to normal levels but they also have the ability to engage in regular exercise. If you have spent time ignoring your body believing that you are an impossible case due to prior failed efforts to improve your health through exercise and weight loss, the truth is that you likely did not sustain an effort to improve your weight and take care of the needed regular exercise requirement long enough to realize the results that will occur with a constant regular effort over time.

In this fast paced society that expects everything to happen overnight the reality about the human body is that it makes changes slowly. Achieving a total fitness result and or weight loss takes months to years to achieve. But with the real need of every human body to engage in regular exercise, if you fulfill that need, you will eventually not only experience reduced weight and a fit body but you will be able to sustain that healthy reality forever.

There is control over your reality when it comes to your body and everyone not only has the ability in them to do it but also the body chemistry that will make it happen when the effort is consistent over time. Make time for yourself, make time for your body, and enjoy a life that avoids being forced later to spend time buying prescriptions and visiting the doctor regularly to take care of the problems that neglect of the self created.

If you don’t make time for yourself now, you will end up being forced to make time for yourself later when you are forced to face the consequence of neglect of the self. Make the right decision now and start a schedule of regular exercise and weight loss management and you will have a happier life and a better life guaranteed. Now that’s a goal worth taking time out for!

Creating An Abundant Lifestyle

Author: Derek Smiley

Many people believe that an abundant lifestyle is about having money and everything material. Well if this is what you think, you may be in for a let down.

Of course we would all rather be rich and miserable than poor and miserable, but to have wealth and happiness is achievable.

When your partner comes home after a day at work, greet him/her at the door and say hello. Ask how his/her day went; keep asking it will become a good habit after 21 days.

When your partner leaves for work in the morning, say Goodbye and I love you or Have a good day, and make sure you do it with an abundant heart, remembering you want an abundant lifestyle in the future. When you ask your partner a question, make eye contact and listen to the answer.

When your partner faces a challenge at work during the day, ask how it went when you get home. Remember though that because of our natures, it is likely the male will want to shrink into his cave for an hour or so, before discussing such issues.

During your evening meal together, avoid the temptation to watch television or read the paper or mail. Look at your partner and have a conversation.

If you want to make plans that affect how your partner will be spending time, check with him/her first and make sure it is convenient.

When you disagree with something your partner says, pay attention to your response. Do you express your opinion without putting him/her down? You can express your opinion assertively rather than aggressively.

For example, you can say, "I have another opinion. I think we should wait until spring to have the walls painted," rather than, "That's silly! We should wait until spring."

Pay attention to how much of your side of the conversation is asking questions versus making statements. If you tend to be the dominant one, ask more questions. When you ask your partner a question, make eye contact and listen to the answer.

Ask open-ended questions to encourage your partner to open up and talk. Open-ended questions begin like this: What was it like when. Tell me about. What do you think of.

Have you become passive with your partner because that is the easiest way to avoid conflict? Over time, this is not a good idea. You will inevitably begin to build up feelings of resentment because you are stifling your feelings, thoughts, and opinions.

If you think you are choosing passive behaviour too often, think about discussing it with your partner and asking him/her to help you be more assertive.

Researchers have found that people whose marriages last the longest have learned to separate from their families of origin (their own parents and siblings) and have appropriate, healthy boundaries.

They value and honor their own privacy and separateness as a couple. This means they have regular, appropriate contact with their extended family, but that it is not excessive or stifling. How do you compare?

Check your communication with your partner and beware of using you messages. These are statements that begin with the word you. For example: "You should call me from the office and tell me when you will be home".

You messages are damaging because they make the other person feel bad or disrespected.

If you want to demonstrate to your partner that you respect him or her, try speaking with I messages instead. When you start your statement with I, you are taking responsibility for the statement.

It is less blameful and less negative than the you message. You can use this formula: a. Your feelings b. Describe the behaviour c. Effect on you.

This is how an I message sounds: "When I heard that you had planned a weekend away, I was confused about why you had not asked me first, so I could be sure to get the time off."

It takes some practice and you have to stop and think about what you are going to say, but your relationship deserves to be handled with care.

Make a list of your partner's positive qualities. Share them and tell him/her why you think each is true. Ask your partner to do the same for you. Respect each other's private space. Over time, many couples let this slide.

As the years pass, many couples begin to feel like they are living in the same house, but have parallel lives. Their paths cross in fewer places.

What is the trend in your relationship and what do you want to do about it today? We hope this articles helps you with your quest for an abundant lifestyle

How To Achieve A Balanced And Healthy Lifestyle In Retirement

Author: Cynthia Barnett

Now that you've retired, you have entered an entirely new phase of life, a life filled with new challenges, adventure and hopefully one that brings you complete and total satisfaction. However, if you're like most people, change isn't always easy and is sometimes stressful. This stress is completely normal but may be compounded if you don't learn how to balance all the demands on your time. With this in mind, we've developed an innovative questionnaire and article to teach you how to determine how stress affects your life and how balancing it will lead to a more healthy and balanced lifestyle. Sound interesting? Well, sit back, grab a pencil and let's access how stress is affecting your life.

Make sure that you answer these questions carefully and honestly:

1. I keep spending too much time on unappealing activities and less time doing things that I really want to do.

True

False

2.I often feel I don't have enough time for myself or for my priorities.

True

False

3.No matter what I do, I can't seem to get enough done and always feel stressed, tired, overcommitted, and/or exhausted.

True

False

4.Since retirement, I don't feel that I'm accomplishing my retirement goals.

True

False

5.I often feel guilty when I can't do the things that make me happy.

True

False

If all of your answers were "false" then you're on the right track. Congratulations, you're leading a balanced life and have a very low stress level. If you answered "true" to 1 or more questions then you can really benefit from these 5 steps which will help you more effectively balance your life:

1.Find your purpose. First and foremost, you must take some time for soul searching. During stillness, you must determine what it is that you truly value and what are your priorities. List them from 1-10. Be very specific about what is important to you and how you plan to strengthen those priorities. For instance, let's say that your first priority is to live a more purpose driven life. If so, what type of activities are you doing to help make your dreams a reality? Are you reading books or listening to purpose driven tapes? Are you attending seminars? The key here is to really hone in on what is most important.

2.Develop a workable plan. Second, now that you know what priorities are important to you, you must develop a workable plan to donate time to each one. To accomplish this, you should write them down and clarify how you can achieve each one. Decide now what steps you will take to fulfill your priorities.

3.Become committed. Third, you must become committed to your plan and realize that you can't do everything. By being committed to achieving your most important priorities first and getting them done, you'll enhance your self esteem tremendously and feel powerful.

4.Take care of yourself. Fourth, you must always factor in time to take care of yourself. By being focused on your health and developing a healthy lifestyle, you'll make sure that you have the stamina to effectively balance your priorities. Therefore, take time to access your current health situation and if necessary, make any needed changes or improvements.

5.Enjoy this time. Fifth, you must be willing to enjoy this precious time. Be grateful that you are gaining control over your retirement goals and take pleasure in being able to live a balanced life.

In conclusion, you can have a healthy and balanced life by finding your purpose, developing a workable plan, becoming committed, taking care of yourself and enjoying yourself.

You must select an easy diet plan or program that matches your own lifestyle, you must select that particular plan that includes a majority of foods which you enjoy otherwise you wont be able to maintain it. Allow you stomach to recognize the food its consuming, notice the signals your body is transmitting to your brain. Eating quickly will only cause you to eat more than you really need to be full. Slower eating allows you to need less food to kill that appetite quicker. Let’s not forget it can only be better for your digestion.

Attempt to utilise various cooking techniques, such as boiling, baking, grilling, steaming, braising instead of fried food. Cut the unhealthy oils from you consumption, go for olive oil and rapeseed oil, even fish oil.

A useful universal tip that almost everyone should share is eating fruit. Fruit falls under the category of a simple carbohydrate, giving energy, filling you with fibre and helping curb hunger pangs.

Similarly, one should also include eating vegetables, for an easy diet life cut them and chill for a snack, and eat ready frozen vegetables with a meal. Try boiling in vegetable stock for extra flavour.

Monitor your liquid consumption, go for water most of the time and avoid sugary sparkling drinks, and also fruit juices with added sugar. Keep in mind that drinking water actually uses up calories too. Whereas sugary drinks add hidden calories to your diet.

Finally, remember to eat breakfast! It truly is the most important meal of the day, it boosts your metabolism for the remainder of the day. Those who eat a breakfast sustain a healthier weight in the long run.

This easy diets plan will sustain a healthy weight in the long term and it is adjustable to most peoples lifestyle. So keep it up and enjoy your new easy diets lifestyle.

Controlling Diabetes With Lifestyle Changes

Author: Liat Nachman

A diabetic is a person whose body is unable to produce adequate and healthy amounts of insulin in order to control blood-sugar levels. There are many different approaches designed to help diabetics controlling diabetes, ranging from changing eating habits to increasing physical activity.

Medication has also been shown to be an effective way of controlling diabetes. Medical treatments for diabetes include daily insulin injections, as well as taking insulin in the form of a pill. The best approach though, appears to be a combination of several factors.

Diabetes and being overweight almost go hand-in-hand. Most of the time, individuals who are overweight have an increased risk of becoming diabetic. For these individuals, most of their problems result from an inactive, sedentary lifestyle, which is consequently another contributing factor in the development of diabetes.

Thin and active individuals should be aware that they too are at risk for developing diabetes. In these cases, diabetes can develop as much from genetics as it can from an unhealthy lifestyle.

One major contributor to diabetes today is the fact that most of today's foods are high in fat, and readily available. Today's busy world make it difficult for individuals on-the-go to prepare their own healthy meals, and as a result, they have no other choice but to turn to fast food. Couple this with the fact that many people today fail to get a daily amount exercise and you literally have a recipe for disaster. Poor diet and poor exercise are major contributors to the development of diabetes. Avoiding exercise, eating lots of fatty foods and sugar within your diet, as well as being overweight, are some of the major contributing factors associated with diabetes.

The first step in fending off, or controlling diabetes is a change in physical lifestyle. All people, especially diabetics and those who are more at risk for developing diabetes, should consider daily exercise. This exercise does not have to be anything major. A thirty-minute a day walk, or even a short weightlifting session at the gym can both be good places to start.

Besides increasing the amount of daily activity, diabetics also need to consider changing the way they eat. Everyone knows that fast food tastes great, but for the diabetic, it might not be the best choice. Instead of typical food choices, consider something with a few less calories, and avoid foods that are described as creamy, sautéed, or fried. More than likely, these are the highest-calorie foods on the menu.

Diabetics should also avoid foods that contain high-fat and high-calorie condiments like mayonnaise, butter, and cheese, as well as certain high-carbohydrate sauces.

Diabetics should focus on eating foods that are low in saturated fats and cholesterol. Most restaurants have skinless chicken and fresh vegetables readily available on their menus.

Although there is no official or standard diabetic diet, there are some standard lifestyle choices that diabetics can make to ensure a healthy life. Most of the time, success comes down to a willingness to achieve change.

Work At Home Businesses And Lifestyle Changes

Author: Elias

There are many businesses that can be developed from home and operated out of your home. The trick is to select one that will be compatible with your home situation, your skill set and a home business that will generate sufficient income to support the lifestyle that you are looking for. We will examine a few of the lifestyle changes that you may want to consider for work at home businesses in this article.

The vast majority of people leave their homes every day to go to an office or some other location to work for the day. They fall into the routine of facing traffic, going to their place of work, chatting with colleagues, lunch with co-workers, coffee breaks and then heading home after work at the same time every day. Their pay check arrives every two weeks and their benefits are included as part of their salary. After 10 years, 15 years even 30 years, this routine has become pretty comfortable and the thought of not going to work is abhorrent.

Unfortunately many companies have laid off thousands of people in the past few years, downsizing, right sizing, mergers, bankruptcies, etc. Whatever the reason more and more people are having their lives disrupted, the comfort zone disappears and they are faced with a significant lifestyle change. This also presents an opportunity as well for these same people to work at home and start their own home business.

There will be adjustments and you may have to work harder than you have ever worked before, as you launch your home based business and build it up to something that not only you can be proud of, but it also generates the income you require for the lifestyle that you want to lead.

The trip to your office may be down the stairs to your home office, coffee breaks are gone and relaxed casual one hour lunches are replaced by fifteen minutes of snatched time, however you do not need to face the traffic every morning and your costs for work are reduced. If you are the type that needs the interaction with colleagues, you may want to set up regular coffee breaks or meetings every week, however your main focus and challenge is now to operate and build your own business.

Over the years of working for an employer you have acquired many skills that you may have taken for granted. Use these skills now to build your own home business. These skills may include a wide scope, everything from how to build or repair something to organization, presentation, selling, writing, computer related skills and on and on. Evaluate these skill sets and put them to excellent use as you develop and build your home business, while managing the lifestyle changes that you are going through!

5 Signs You’re Leading an Unhealthy Lifestyle

Author: Adella Klein

Leading a healthy lifestyle is something that many people strive for.

Countless hours in the gym and an unsatisfyingly healthy diet are two great ways to achieve the type of lifestyle that will earn you praise from your doctor. But if being healthy is that easy, why are so many North Americans unhealthy?

The answer to that question is this: It's easy to know what it takes to lead a healthy life, the difficult part is following through on exactly what it is you need to do to get there.

If you're not sure whether you're maintaining a healthy lifestyle, we suggest finding out if any of the following statements apply to you:

1. Your cigarette intake outweighs your vitamin intake.
2. You're more likely to chug a beer than a glass of water.
3. You'd prefer watching a 6-hour marathon of Desperate Housewives to a half-hour workout at the gym.
4. When asked which you prefer more, a home-cooked meal or a McDonalds Big Mac, you respond with "the Big Mac, of course - with supersized fries."
5. You'd rather stay up until 4 o'clock in the morning (on a work night) playing Halo 3 than getting some well-needed rest for the next day.

If any (or all) of these statements apply to you, chances are you're leading an unhealthy lifestyle. Here are a few small changes you can make in your daily life to improve your health:
1. Quit Smoking.
2. Drink lots of water.
3. Exercise.
4. Eat Healthy.
5. Get lots of rest.

You don't have to change your whole world to accommodate your healthy lifestyle. A few small changes can make a huge difference. How about having one glass of wine a night instead of three? How about walking to the store to get some milk instead of always driving? These are small adjustments that will have a huge, long-term impact on your well-being.
So go on, indulge in that Big Mac meal with super-sized fries every now again - just plan to spend the rest of the week working it off!

Build Your Business Around Your Lifestyle And Increase Your Gross Business Happiness

Author: Kevin Riley

Does your business bring you happiness? Is your business built around your lifestyle? Or is your life forced to conform to your business?

Bhutan's King Jigme Singye Wangchuck gained some fame for putting forward the "radical" idea that a country's success should not be measured in terms of its GNP. Instead, he suggested measuring the success of a nation by its GNH—its Gross National Happiness. He pointed out that if the people are not leading happy, fulfilling lives, it doesn't matter how healthy a country's economy is.

This same notion can easily be applied to your business. If it's not making you happy, it may be time to re-assess the reasons you went into business in the first place.

= Why Did You Start Your Business? =

Did you start your own business for money or freedom? Did you want to be in full control of your time and your life? What are your priorities?

Maybe you wanted to get away from the rat race of the corporate world. Maybe you pictured yourself free from five days a week in a cramped cubicle, pictured yourself spending more time with your family. You saw yourself choosing your own hours and having time to enjoy your hobbies, travel, sports.

Running a business can either give you that freedom or it can rob you of it. It all depends on how you build your business in the first place. If you set some rules from the beginning, define what you want to do, then build your business around your lifestyle, you will reap a high level of GBH—Gross Business Happiness.

= How To Get Happiness From Your Business =

First, decide what you want in your life. Picture your ideal lifestyle. Do you want to spend long vacations in other lands? Do you want to work evenings and have your days free for golf? Do you want to stay at your ski chalet for a month every Spring? Write down exactly what your business will allow you to do … what kind of lifestyle it will let you lead.

Next, write down what you will or will not do in your business. Do you like meeting customers? Or would you rather keep them on the other side of a computer screen? Do you want to go on business trips? Or are you a happy homebody? Do you want to sell physical products? Or do you want to sell downloadable information products or software … and avoid the hassles of inventory?

Using a list of rules for your business will also ensure that your business is successful. When your goals for your business reflect the priorities in your life, it is much easier to be disciplined and follow your business plan.

= When Your Business Fits Your Lifestyle It Will Flourish =

Because your business activities allow for your lifestyle, there is less temptation to sidetrack you from the jobs you need to accomplish. You'll find it much easier to stick to your goals. Since your business doesn't intrude on your life, your life doesn't interfere with your business.

Spend some time building your business around your lifestyle. Build it around your needs and wants, and your business will bring you not only money … but also happiness.

Why Fitness is a Lifestyle not a Diet

Author: Zach Hunt

Have you ever been on a restricted eating plan? I'm willing to bet you have, and I have a hunch that at some point you terminated that diet. Any mention of diet to most people brings up thoughts like: restriction, boring and horrifying.

Why I ask? Why? The truth is, dieting is not a longterm approach. They are all short-term, which ultimately leads to no results.

If you think about it, in order for someone to gain weight, you have to live a lifestyle that caters to gaining weight - whether that be from excessive eating or lack of physical activity. The weight doesn't just jump onto you overnight. It may take years of poor habits to get to your current level.

If it took 5-10 years to pile on all that weight, it won't just fall off in a single week or even 12 weeks for some. There lies the answer, if it took a certain lifestyle to gain weight, it's going to take a different lifestyle to take it off. It's a permanent change in the way you live. Being in shape should be the result of how you live every day.

If you fix the habits or actions that have caused the weight gain, you can cause the weight to come off automatically. Cleaning up some daily habits will often do the trick. For example if you drink 1 can of soda every day with your lunch - exchange that for water. Just that one simple change added up over 1 year will result in a 16 pound difference. Add 30 minutes of physical activity 3-4 times a week and there's at least another 12 pounds each year.

Maybe it's the glazed donut at work 3 times a week - 12 months later there's another 11 pounds. These are easy to do actions you can take regularly every week to add up after a while. A great habit is to just drink water all day long - not only will you get the benefit of hydration you'll also skip the extra calories from soda, fruit juices and coffee mocha delights.

How about switching to skim milk instead of 2%, while that may not be for everyone, it's just an idea of how simple taking away a few calories here and there can be. Take 1 year, and week by week, improve upon your current habits with nutrition or physical activity. By the end of the year you will have seen significant results, all from those very slight changes. Losing weight doesn't have to be restrictive or obsessive in any sense of the word. It all comes back to what your lifestyle is like, that's what will ultimately determine what your weight will be. You've probably heard of someone getting liposuction or another form of weight reduction surgery. Often times they just gain every bit of the weight back, they got their quick fix, but in the end their lifestyle just puts the weight back on.

Lottery winners get their "get rich quick" scheme, but in the end, many of them are just as poor as they were before they had won their money. They're original lifestyle catered to that style of living. Although they got a lucky break with the winnings, their habits of spending, attitudes toward money and no savings ultimately put them right back at where they started.

If you're just looking for some miracle pill or fat-burner plus, I advise you to realign your thoughts on weight loss. Losing weight is a process, not an event. I bet you would like to maintain your weight once you get there. Dieting means you will eventually quit that behavior and most likely rebound back to your previous weight. This continues in a cyclical fashion, just like a yo-yo, going up and down and up and down. Weight loss is more than just a temporary fix, it's a lifestyle change. Be like a rock, when a rock is dropped it just drops, and stays down.

Are You Addicted To Your Lifestyle?

Author: Brad Howard

With the percentage of overweight people increasing throughout the world, one has to think that their have to be more variables in play than just "fast food". The world is hustling and with the advent of computers and the internet, the hustling is more informational and mental than physical. So, if the majority of us are trying to lose weight in some form or another, the main question we need to ask ourselves is "Are we addicted to our lifestyles?"

Bad Habits or Lifestyle Addition

If you are reading this right now, there is a huge chance that you are overweight. After all, studies show that 64.5% of Americans fall into the overweight category. (F as in Fat: How Obesity Policies are Failing in America, 2005)

Here are a few questions you need to ask yourself:

• Have you been trying to lose weight but seem to keep falling into the same rut?

• Do you constantly tell yourself that you need to lose weight but just can't get around to it?

• Have you thought about losing weight, but keep telling yourself that it's not a big deal?

• Do you ever lie to yourself and think that people should love you for you and not because of how big you are?

The funny thing is that no one saying yes to only a few of these questions. It's either all or none. If you've said yes, congratulations: you're addicted to your lifestyle!

Lifestyle addiction explained

Have you ever seen a drug addict or are you familiar with a person with an alcohol problem? Have you seen their struggles?

These people have huge problems getting away from those drugs. They need support networks and strong councelling just to make it through the day.

Now, of course, these are very strong physical dependencies. A lifestyle addiction would be classified as a psychological dependency. If would compare to "needing" your husband or wife when they leave you.

You know that you shouldn't care and that you should just let go...but you can't...and you can't figure out why. Losing weight can, and often does, fall into this same category. Let's say that you've been on an exercise and diet plan for 3 days but you break your plan on the third day. A drug addict would call that a relapse, right? You can see where I am going with this.

The Justification of a Lifestyle Addition

Let's classify an addiction using these assumptions:

• An addiction is something that you don't see as a problem, yet you get angry when someone else says it is (Doc says, "Hey Bob, you need to drop 20 pounds.)

• An addiction is a "rut" that you can't get out of (I just don't have time)

• An addiction is something that harms you in the long run, but is satisfying in the short run (Oh, that chocolate cake looks so good)

• An addiction is a problem that you can't change because of "willpower". (I just can't seen to get motivated)

• An addiction is something that's "too tough" to change (Twenty pounds, I'll NEVER be able to lose that much)

Face it. If you need to lose weight, but just can't take the time to get around to it, you are addicted to your lifestyle. It's an ugly way to look at it. After all, who wants to be grouped in the same group as crack addicts, alcoholics, psycho boyfriends, and the such.

No one. But the premise is still the same. The ugly truth is still here no matter whose glasses you look at the world through.

Losing weight is a serious matter and it is about time you look at it that way. The shear fact that you might be having trouble doing it just reinforces this even more. Look, it's your life and your journey.

Don't lie to yourself anymore. If a doctor told you that you would die tomorrow if you didn't get in at least 30 minutes of exercise today, would you go about your day and ignore the doctor (because he/she OBVIOUSLY doesn't know what he/she is talking about) or would you immediately rearrange your day and find a way to get it done?

Think about all of the above definitions before you answer. I'd like to think you'd get off your butt and do something. After all...in this particular case...it's do or die.

So...what are you going to do?

Discover What to Do With Your Life.

Author: Doug Allan Dammeier

(Send this article to family and friends you care about and help them live better lives...)

I have found my 'purpose' in life and in this article I would like to briefly talk more about how you can find yours. So that's my question to you..."What Do You Want To Do With Your Life?"

Enoch Tan believes our purpose in life is determined by 5 points: 1.) It must be something that expresses who and what you are on the 'inside.' 2.) It must be something you truly enjoy doing. 3.) It must be something that gives you 'vision.' 4.) It must be something that you would gladly accept as your 'lifestyle.' 5.) It must be something that you truly believe in.

Your 'calling' in life is what ties your spiritual being together with your physical being. You become 'connected.'

It is also: ...something you have always been interested in. ...something you feel not only in your mind, but in your gut. ...something you find meaningful. It completes you.

A Calling is is a person's highest purpose. Everyone has a purpose in life and everyone has been given the passion and talent to fulfill it.

What people really want is to find work that they are passionate about. When fully engaged in your passions you have no sense of time. You're not watching the clock to see when you can stop because you never want to stop. Working at what you are passionate about is not work...it's your lifestyle your passions created.

When people work at what they love their productivity and creativeness explode. They find talents and abilities they never knew they possessed. They grow tremendously inside and outside. And they are so engrossed in their passion they become experts and contribute tremendous value to others and to the world.

Now I understand perfectly that not everyone can just up and quit their present job/work and follow their passions for the rest of their lives. That's not 'real world.'

But there is no reason you can't spend time to discover and become clear about what your passions are and begin to work toward living them on a full time basis. You can do this outside of your present 'work' on a part time basis.

If you're in high school or college and you're not sure if you are studying the subjects that will lead you to working at your passions work to identify what you want to do with the rest of your life. Look ahead 5 years, 10 years, even 20 years, and think of what would be the ideal lifestyle for you to be living. Picture yourself in your future working at what you love to do. Take subjects that may help you attain the goal of working at your passions in your future.

If you're not in some type of school, you're older, and just working at a job that doesn't excite you, or you may even hate, you are robbing yourself of the abundant and joyful life you were created and put on earth to live. Don't quit your job, but begin to study your passions part time and become an expert. Begin offering your expertise to others on a part time basis and income will begin to flow. Build and grow this passion over time until it replaces the work you don't like doing. It doesn't matter how long it takes because it will be worth it for the rest of your life. At this point you are no longer working, you are living the lifestyle of your dreams.

Sure it takes time. Anything we learn and pursue takes time and effort. But when it's something you absolutely love to do time has no bearing. Before you know it you will have attained your goals and will be setting new, larger goals that you never imagined would be possible for you.

A Calling/Passion may not be something you realize early in life. Most people have to 'grow into' their calling by making mistakes, through trial and error, and by eventually becoming fed up and realizing that "There has to more to life."

That's why I am here. My mission is make as many young people as I can aware of the fact they can earn a great living and at the same time live a lifesytle of total joy and happiness working at their passions. The same holds true for people of any age. I didn't realize and follow my true passions until I was over 50 years old. I wish someone would have taught me about this when I was in my teens or twenties. And this is what I want to do for others.

But no matter, because I am now following my passions and earning a living doing what I love to do. And anyone can do the same. As a matter of fact, it's what you were created to do!

Please understand that living an abundant and happy life is your birthright. It is what we all deserve. Did you know that it's a lot easier to succeed than to fail? Most people think just the opposite.

You have to work hard to fail. For failure you need stress, tension, anxiety, depression, worry, and fear. You employ a tremendous amount of energy in those things. When you worry about failure and keep it in your thoughts you naturally attract it to you. When you focus on the lack in your life you attract more lack.

All you have to do to change this is re-arrange your 'mindset.' When you recognize the thoughts or feelings attached to failure or fear entering your mind picture yourself grabbing them with both hands forcefully and throwing them out of your mind and out of your life. Toss them in the trash. They cannot stay in your mind if you CHOOSE to kick them out.

Immediately replace them with thoughts of your desires and feelings of success. 'Flip a switch' in your mind and focus on thoughts and feelings of being successful, happy, and abundant.

When you focus your energy and attention away from fear and failure to being abundant and successful you find ways to 'flow' more easily through life. You attract people, events, circumstances, and situations into your life to grow this success. One thing leads to another and your life begins to change to one of joy and happiness.

Personally, I'm a Christian and believe in God. Most people believe in something whether they call it the 'Higher Power,' the 'Universal Mind,' the 'Source,' or whatever. I don't preach religion. My point is, our innermost desires and passions are divinely inspired.

When I feel passionate and excited about something it's God's (use whatever you believe in) way of telling me this is a purpose I should follow up on. My passions are God's way of leading me. All positive thoughts, feelings, ideas and inspirations I get are a personal message from God. He communicates to me this way. He leads me this way.

By choosing to follow your heart and passions you are fulfilling the unique talent and purpose that has been placed in you. Following your Calling puts you on a path where God's blessings for you begin pouring into your life on a non-stop basis. As long as you are moving in the direction of your life's purpose the Universe will bless you with all the things you need to in order to fulfill all your dreams.

You will find many priceless and precious things appearing like magic along the path of a life following your passions. Work to identify and clarify your passions and then take the time to pursue them.

Vegetarian Lifestyles

A total vegetarian or vegan diet, contrary to popular belief, is interesting, flavorful and usually includes a much wider variety of foods than those consumed by the average omnivore. By adopting a vegetarian diet, not only do we avoid the risks presented by consuming animal products, we enjoy colorful fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and legumes provide an abundance of vitamins, minerals and antioxidant packages that go to work to help protect our cells against heart

disease and invading cancers.

Vegetarianism (for health) doesn't need to be a religion. It will be a meal by meal choice. Their staples like rice, oats, beans, and pasta are very inexpensive. Vegetarians do not need to eat special combinations of foods to meet protein needs. However, it is important to be aware of fat.

Meats and other non-vegetarian products add toxins in the body and make it a bit difficult to get rid off; thus leading to further health complications. A vegetarian diet on the

other hand, is easy on the body, is a healthier option, and helps the body to get rid off toxins easily. One of the most important health factors of a vegetarian diet is the lowered amount of cholesterol intake, you will lower your cholesterol levels greatly by a vegetarian diet, but a vegan diet will stop your intake 100 percent.

Vegetarian alternatives are now more accessible to everyone. Serve simple foods that can easily be duplicated by food service (rather than more expensive foods like fake meats). You may choose to serve several at one sitting, or go periodically, say once a month, with different selections. Serve with salad, we also like couscous with herbs and spices and roasted veg. It works well and as my daughter (at the moment) will eat chicken but not much in the way of red meat we are surviving. Serve the kabobs with a tossed green salad and something light for dessert, such as a fruit sorbet. Vegetarian diets that are poorly planned may range from a lack of protein, iron, and zinc, vitamin B12 to having a deficient amount of omega-3 fatty acids to vitamin A, B2, D and iodine. Without a proper diet, people who are vegans may be deficient in vitamin B12 and calcium. Vegetarian Times is packed with delicious, easy recipes that can aid proper weight control. Our pages contain everything from quick dinners for the family to elegant company meals.

For most vegans, veganism is more than just a diet it is also a lifestyle. Vegans or total vegetarians only eat plant foods, which include legumes or dried beans and peas, grains, seeds and nuts. Lactovegetarians eat plant food and include cheese and other dairy products. Vegans can get adequate calcium from plant products but it is a challenge! Studies suggest that vegetarians don't need as much calcium as non-vegetarians - but as much doesn't mean not any. If you are using tofu as a calcium source, be sure it is calcium set. Soy, itself, does not contain substantial calcium; it is a certain process of making the tofu that adds the calcium. Vegans are considered vegetarians but are usually known as total vegetarians since they do not eat meat of any kind, never wear clothing made from animals (wool for example), and never consume animal-based products like milk and eggs. That is the most extreme of the vegetarians.

Meat consumption is a risk factor for pancreatic cancer (number four in both men and women), whereas legumes and dried fruits appear to be protective. Ovarian cancer, number five in women, has been linked with dairy (including skim milk), egg, and meat consumption.

Meat analogs produced by high-moisture extrusion of soy proteins are good alternatives to animal meat and have many health benefits. In addition to textural properties, an abundant fibrous structure in such extrudates is a key factor for consumer acceptance. Meat analogs can be purchased to replace hamburger, steak, chicken, hot dogs, sausage, and many other meat products. Meat analogs are vegetable-protein based foods made to resemble and simulate various kinds of meat. These analogs have become a healthy alternative for the mainstream consumer interested in reducing the meat in their diets. Meat eating contributes to a mentality of violence through "karmic consequences.".Fear begets fear, fear begets violence, and violence begets violence. Meat-eaters inflict a heavy burden on vegetarians we pay dearly for the meat addictions of our fellow citizens today; and if things continue as they are, future generations of vegetarians will pay even more dearly. As of yet we vegetarians are not allowed tax breaks nor lower insurance premiums for our gentle lifestyle.

Animal wastes cause 10 times more water pollution than does the U.S. Meat producers are the number one industrial polluters in our nation, contributing to half the water pollution in the United States. Animal agribusiness requires vast resources, resulting in the devastation of the environment, and is a major contributor global warming (more, in fact, than all the world's cars, trucks and airplanes combined). And avoiding meat is better for our bodies: the American Dietetic Association reports that vegetarians have lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease, lower blood cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, and lower rates of hypertension, type-2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer and that vegetarians are less likely to be obese than meat-eaters.

Eating nuts and whole grains, while eliminating dairy products and meat, will improve your cardiovascular health. A British study indicates that a vegan diet reduces the risk for heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. Eating flourishing is digit of the easiest structure to secure both your feeling and fleshly eudaemonia rest at their constructive peek.

Vegetarians do not support the meat producing industry, an industry that accounts for more waste production than all other industries in the United States combined. As a vegetarian, you benefit from a more healthy lifestyle, as well as promoting a healthier planet. The SDA vegetarian diet recommends some legumes, nuts, and low-fat diary products in moderation. Examples of recommended dairy products would be milk, yogurt, light cheeses, with eggs used sparingly. Add a massive orange juice (they only come in "massive" these days) and you have a pretty healthy veggie meal for a couple

of bucks. The eggs are on the register but not the menu. Even though fatty meats may be limited on a vegetarian diet, a steady diet of fatty dairy products could cause the amount of artery-clogging saturated fat that is consumed to be off the Richter scale!

IMPORTANT NOTICE It is strongly advised that all persons seek advice and guidance from a competent medical doctor regarding and prior to embarking on a vegetarian dietary lifestyle change. This is particularly true for pregnant women or mothers who are breast feeding infant children, senior citizens, growing children, and/or any individual who is suffering from or being treated for any disease or health disorder.
